Echizen is unglazed, high-fired ware made in Echizen (Fukui Prefecture).

Echizen is an ancient pottery center, and its glazed ware was influenced by the
Sueki vessels of the Heian Period (794-1192). Various large jars have been staple products of Echizen since medieval times.
