Tamba is located in Tachikui, Hyogo Prefecture (near Kyoto). Tamba ware originated in the medieval period, and is typically a style used for storage jars and vases.

Tamba is also famous for it's sake bottles (see third and fourth photo from top), and for the slip trailing technique (itchin) that has the name of the sake shop or location on the vessel.

Today Tamba ware is produced with both natural and applied glazes. The drip glaze (see 2nd photo from top) is another common feature of the earthy Tamba style.
