Adachi Museum of Art

The Adachi Museum of Art was established in 1970 to exhibit the private collection of ADACHI Zenyasu. The collection includes modern Japanese paintings by YOKOYAMA Taikan and SAKAKIBARA Shiho, ceramic works by KAWAI Kanjiro and KITAOJI Rosanjin, wood sculpture as well as gold lacquer ware. This collection provides an insight into modern Japanese arts. The museum is well-known for the various kinds of Japanese style gardens on the premises.

The TANABE MUSEUM OF ART was established in 1979 to exhibit the private collection of the TANABE family and the collection of the MATSUDAIRA family, feudal lord of the region.The collection includes tea ceremony utensils, brush paintings, ancient pottery and porcelain, as well as household items. There are also sculptures and paintings by regional artists. An open-air space is used for tea parties as well as outdoor exhibitions. The museum also sponsors a prestigious modern tea ceremony utensils exhibition that draws entries from many Japanese potters.

Izumo Folklore Museum

The Izumo Folklore Museum was founded in 1974 and exhibits folk arts and crafts such as textiles, pottery and porcelain, wood works and metal works. The building was originally used by wealthy farmers then renovated into the museum.

Iwami Adachi Museum of Art

The Iwami Adachi Museum of Art was founded in 1977 to exhibit the private collection of ADACHI Keizo. The collection includes folklore literature, everyday household items, swords, brush paintings, pottery and porcelain, and regional works.

Hirose Museum of History and Folklore

The Hirose Museum of History and Folklore was founded in 1982 to exhibit various relics which were found at ruins in the region. The collection includes archaeological literature as well as ancient pottery. There are special exhibitions by contemporary regional artists twice a year.
